A suggestion for the would-be directors from Akira Kurosawa_黑澤明給青年人的建議

Actually, I do not know much about Akira Kurosawa, all I know is that he is a well-known Japanese, a renowned director. In the video clip, he talks about how the would-be directors can create great movies. He suggested that all directors should write as much script/ play as possible. In addition, he also values the importance of reading, because, if there's no input of ideas, one can barely create something new out of nothing. People need inspiration, and inspiration comes from our experience. Experience, in turn, often can be derived via the joy of reading a book. For example, if someone has never been to the middle east. Can the person describe the scenery or costumes in the middle east?! A definite no would probably be the answer, nevertheless, if a book that introduces the middle east is given to the person and he or she reads through it, chances are, he or she could possible say a lot about the middle east. I do agree with his point of view. Training a would-be director is much like increasing someone's language proficiency. Emphasis is usually put on pleasure reading. One can only absorb what he or she is reading when his/ her affective filter is low. To make the affective filter low, the material must be of interest to the reader. If the book itself is not interesting, at least it has to be something that is highly readable, that is, easy to be comprehended.
